How we collect, use, and protect your personal information — and the rights you have over it.
Last updated: 19 August 2026Napa Story ("Napa Story," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit napastory.com (the "Site") or get in touch about filming, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Site or contacting us, you agree to the practices described here.
Napa Story is a documentary video project based in Napa Valley, California, that produces long-form storytelling about local winemakers, chefs, and business founders. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), Napa Story is the data controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us any time at hello@napastory.com.
We collect only what we need to talk with you and tell stories well:
We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal data (such as health, religion, or political views), payment card details, or government identifiers through this Site.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve you third-party advertising.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Responding to enquiries and coordinating a possible shoot | Consent, and steps taken at your request prior to entering an agreement |
| Producing a feature you have agreed to | Performance of a contract, and/or consent |
| Essential Site operation & security | Legitimate interests |
| Optional analytics | Consent |
| Meeting legal obligations | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by emailing hello@napastory.com; this does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
We keep your information close. We share it only:
If you participate in a Napa Story feature, we will separately agree with you — in writing — how your image, voice, name, and story may be recorded, edited, and published. Once content is published on public platforms, it may be viewed, shared, and indexed widely. We will always honor the specific terms of any release or agreement you sign, and you may raise questions or concerns with us at any time.
We keep enquiry information only as long as needed to respond and, if relevant, to plan a shoot — and afterward for a reasonable period to maintain our records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Published documentary content may be retained indefinitely as part of our body of work, consistent with any release you have signed. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive information to us by email.
If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@napastory.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by law (generally one month) and will not charge a fee except where permitted.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the following rights:
Notice of no sale. Napa Story does not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and has not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
To exercise these rights, email hello@napastory.com with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will verify your request using the information you provide and respond as required by law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.
Categories collected. In the past twelve months we have collected the categories of "identifiers" (such as name and email) and "internet or electronic network activity" (such as Site usage), as described in Section 2, for the business purposes described in Section 3.
We are based in the United States, so if you contact us from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers of personal data out of the EEA or UK.
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
